radio aporee is a platform for sound art and experimental radio. We provide the app radio aporee – miniatures (for mobiles) both for Android- and IOS-based devices, free of charge for our users. The app enables access to sound art works in public space, created by artists, cultural organizations and individuals.

Information Collection And Use:

We do not collect, store, track or analyze any personal data of our users. Users of the app don't need to log in or provide any kind of personal information.

App permissions:

In order for the app to function properly, some permissions need to be granted on the user's device. Below you find the required permissions and why they are necessary. Please note: depending on the device and platform used, the requested permissions can vary.

Location

• approximate location (network-based)
• precise location (GPS and network-based)

Access to precise location is needed because the app finds and plays sounds close to the user's position in public space. Since distances can be 10 meters and less, GPS is required.

Phone, Device ID & call information

• read phone status and identity

The app doesn't access any identity settings/data of the phone, but must read the phone's state, e.g. for suspending the app when a call arrives, or to detect when the phone goes in stand-by mode.

Photos/Media/Files/Storage

• read the contents of your USB storage
• modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

The app provides a local cache for sound files and related data. These files are stored on the phone's external storage, usually the SD-card. This is very helpful for the app's performance and it saves costs, since usually a user synchronizes a sound piece upfront, within a WIFI network, eliminating the need to download sounds over expensive mobile networks.

Microphone

• record audio

The app plays sound files, but does not record any audio. However, this permission is requested by the mediaplayer code used for audio playback and cannot be disabled individually. This may change in a future update.

Wi-Fi connection information, Other

• view Wi-Fi connections
• view network connections
• full network access
• change your audio settings
• control vibration

The app needs full network connection in order to load sound files to its local USB storage. Different types of network connections need to be distinguished, e.g. to warn users when they are within an expensive mobile network, or if they are offline. Vibration is used for notification, i.e. when the user approaches a nearby sound.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of Feb.23, 2018 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
